Are you having difficulty in finding and keeping qualified employees?

Labor shortage in the Low Country? Fact or Fiction?

If so, is there anything you can do to reduce the effects on you and your business?

The Low Country Human Resources Association is holding its annual conference entitled "Recruiting and Retaining Employees in a Tight Labor Market." Several local experts will discuss effective methods for finding and retaining quality candidates. Business owners, managers, HR representatives, and those responsible for recruiting are welcome to attend.

The cost for the event is $25, and includes lunch.

The keynote speaker, Dr. John Salazar, USCB, will analyze the demographics of local counties and their effect on employment. Additional speakers include Melissa Azallion, immigration attorney with McNair Law, who will interpret recent changes to immigration and visa laws. John O’Toole, Executive Director of the Beaufort County Economic Development Corporation, will introduce the Fidelis Project, which connects businesses with transitioning military veterans. Eric Esquivel, publisher of La Isla Magazine will discuss recruiting in the Hispanic community, while Steve Ryden, Principal at Your Success Matters, will share strategies for retaining good employees. Also speaking is Robert Crenshaw, Area Director for Ready SC, who will define the registered apprenticeship program, which raises skill levels for employees while providing business owners with tax credits.
